Biography

Paul Soupiset is a graphic designer, illustrator, songwriter, liturgical arts director, youth media consultant, journalist, mentor, typophile, husband, father, and self-described armchair theologian who lives in San Antonio, Texas, USA, with his wife Amy and four children.

By day, Paul is a graphic designer specializing in youth media; he has served as creative director and lead designer at Toolbox since its inception in 1996. At the studio, Paul spends a lot of time creating age-appropriate, channel-rich, engaging tools — both print and online — for college and young adults (18-25), teens (14-17) including publication design, podcast production and website development. Paul’s award-winning designs have been featured in the pages of Communication Arts, Graphis, Print Magazine, How Magazine, Step, and other design annuals. His current clients include The Nature Conservancy, AT&T Cotton Bowl, Youth Specialties Zondervan, Bank of America, USAA’s U-TURN Magazine, and many others. http://toolboxstudios.com

After-hours, Paul stays immersed in the arts. His illustrations have recently appeared in Shane Claiborne’s “Jesus for President” (Zondervan, March 2008) and in the forthcoming “An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration From The Private Sketchbooks Of Artists, Illustrators And Designers.” (F+W, October release). He is currently undertaking writing and illustrating a “visual companion to the Revised Common Lectionary,” tentatively titled “Liturgical Sketching.” Paul creates contemplative worship experiences for a small congregation in San Antonio, and he facilitates Emergent|SA, the South Texas Emergent Village learning cohort, fostering the so-called emerging church conversation.
