Light Bulb Moment

   We had a cute thing happen with Kate today.  She has begun reading everything that she sees because she is in first grade and her reading skills are really taking off.  We were eating at our favorite local spot orderup tonight for dinner and she was reading our receipt.  All of a sudden she says, "Is that how you pronounce that. . . French Fries?"  I was very confused! I asked, "Do you mean is that how you spell that?" She said, "No, is that how you pronounce that?   I thought it was French Tries!?!"  So, my sweet and smart 6 1/2 year old daughter has thought that they were called French Tries for her whole life until today, when she read the real spelling of it and figured out that she was incorrect.  We all had a great laugh along with Kate.  It was very cute!

Preschool: Priceless

I have taken a job as the 3 year old preschool teacher at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church's Weekday School.  I have had so much fun in my first week on the job.  I never thought that I would enjoy being with 9 children for 4 hours everyday as much as I have.   This is the school where my kids have gone for the last 10 years and Emma is still there with me.  She is not in my class, but she is really enjoying her "Busy Bees" class. 

We have Chapel every morning which is precious and so good for my soul.  I love to watch the children sing and learn basic truths about God.  Then the kids go to Music or PE for awhile and then I get them for snack time and circle time.  I only have them for about 1 hour for actually teaching time.  They have been really picking up the schedule easily and enjoying their transition to "everyday school"  I am so thankful for a job that I love and that helps fill my need for teaching again, but still allows me time to be with my family. 

Unfortunately, I got strep throat this week and had to miss school on Friday. I am really looking forward to going back on Monday.  I hope to post class pics soon.

My brother's running a marathon

I just wanted to help support my brother's efforts in the marathon he is running.  This is the first marathon he has run in and he is doing it for a good cause.  Follow the above link to see how he hopes to help raise One Million Dollars for World Vision.  I am going to get to go to Chicago to watch him run.  Please help out if you feel led to do so.
