amy, emma, and kate are in chatham, mass this week, enjoying cape cod.
jordan and abigail are at a one-week camp session at laity lodge / singing hills.
that leaves me all alone on irvington drive.
so it's appropos that my lesson on saturday was about silence and solitude.
i've had a lot of it.
i've gotten back to the daily office, a rich source for daily devotionals.
i read blue like jazz in one sitting. next, i picked up annie lamott's plan b and i'm halfway through that as well. on the 4th of july i was all alone, so at 8pm i hopped in my junky car and decided i needed some company. i went to the six flags theme park in san antonio where i have a summer pass, and walked right in, rode a roller coaster, and stayed for the fireworks spectacular. they use the word "spectacular" a lot at six flags fiesta texas theme park.
the fireworks display was certainly good. not the best i had ever seen. nor the biggest. but it was cool, and i'm glad i went. or, i was glad i went until the traffic jam leaving the park. i kid you not: at 9:45 i was in my car ready to leave the parking lot. at 11:45 I was still leaving the lot. seriously.
luckily i had anne lamott's book to keep me company.
casey and i had a good lunch yesterday as well. we stayed like two and a half hours at pei wei.
my kids are so cute. i logged onto the camp website this morning to see their pictures. these are a few of the ones i added to my photo album:
talk about a caucasian-fest. one thing the camp does not have is a lot of diversity.
i had been meaning to cut my hair really short. so i did. makes me look like a bouncer desafortunadamente.
take care of yourself. give me a shoutout if you're actually reading this blog! - psoup
