Slept in this morning in Nana and Tom-Tom’s turn-of-the-last-century Victorian house on Kempner St. (22nd) on Galveston Island. We all grabbed our bicycles and pedaled to Sunflower Bakery & Café (tradition!) with all the kids for brunch. Then cycled down to the Strand and back to the house. I’m really enjoying my new Trek bicycle, BTW, but need to replace the speedometer I bought for it with something higher quality. Cateye, here I come. Currently, I’m enjoying some alone time, a caramel latté, and some free WiFi at the Mod Coffeehouse, next door to the René Wiley Gallery here on historic Postoffice Street. The kids are back at Nana’s watching a movie upstairs, and Amy and Nana were quietly reading books in the sunlit living room. Feels like a perfect Friday.
