So this photo needs some explaining. I’m up here in Minneapolis working on a new project with the fine folks at Sparkhouse, and in walks Jenee Woodard, pictured here. Moments earlier someone connected the dots for me, and reminded me why the name sounded vaguely familiar: Jenee is a self-described amateur scholar of Church History and Biblical Studies and she single-handedly publishes http://www.textweek.com — probably the single best go-to website with resources for study, reflection and liturgy which correspond to the the 3-year Revised Common Lectionary cycle. Pastors, worship leaders and liturgical artists in the Christian tradition use the site for study, teaching & preaching preparations. It’s a brilliant resource that spans the whole spectrum of commentary on a given pericope, ranging from high to low, whimsical to serious, conservative to liberal, and everything in between. Seems she has made her life’s work (for this season of life at least) staying at home, editing textweek and caring for a grown son with autism. Anyway, I gushed about the site, letting her know how critical the resources had been to me when I led art/worship in years past, and I think she was happily surprised to hear from someone other than a pastor “cramming the night before the sermon” (she gets most of her hits for a given passage on Saturday night, hours before a pastor would give a sermon on that topic, which points to a sad reality of the preaching IMO). Here’s to you, Jenee, and thank you.
