I finally had a few evenings to finish The Name of The Rose.
don't know why i didn't read it sooner. excellent fiction backed by excellent research; good, dimensional characters, mystery, faith, loss of faith, redemption, ambivalence, in wonderfully haunting setting.
oh, and newbiggin was right.
on another note, i purchased the Daily Office Book (2 volumes, inclusive) today. a pretty penny, but God-willing it will last me a lifetime.
I tried to read Foucault's Pendulum, more because I felt like I should read some Eco than because I was interested in it. I stumbled about 25% in and never got back to it.
What was Newbiggin right about?
Glad to see you posting again. Hope all is well with what we discussed last week.
