ahhhh.
i love public broadcasting. i just got to hear and watch mahler's first symphony televised live on PBS -- "Live at the Lincoln Center". better, i got to enjoy it with jordan, 9, who -- although he was supposed to be in bed -- was allowed to sneak back into the breakfast room (where our little television set is precariously perched), and watched most of it with me. how great to have a son who wants to sit through the New York Philharmonic with me. He's old enough to appreciate the 'programmatic' themes -- am i using that term correctly -- and the recognizable 3rd movement. Jordan has started learning violin this year at Alamo Heights ISD's strings program. i was impressed that he knew the term 'piccicato''
one regret of mine is never having played an instrument in a symphonic/orchestral setting. (singing in a high school choir with the orchestra playing in the background will have to suffice.)
God please protect those in Rita's path tonight.
