I probably sound like some back woods hick emerging from a ten year stretch in a corn field time warp, but, I've never heard of this chic. But from what I've listend to... I like alot. When I have more time I'd like to listen to the poetry of the songs a bit more and try to "get" what she's saying. I'm not sure who she reminds me of, not that her talent is not strong enough to stand on it's own, but it's kinda a little bit Stevie Nicks meets Sheryl Crow meets that chic from Sixpense back from before they got "Big", ya know? I wonder who her influences were. She seems very cynical at times, bitter even at her childhood and lack of parent involvement and affirmation. I can totally feel her, but I hope she can release that pain someday. I hope I can release that pain some day. So, Paul, so tell me your genesis with "the sparrow lady". I want to know...what you're feeling...tell me what's on your mind...

i got into Neko Case late in the game, only recently. IMO, she's right in line with the kind of music i like the best, strong singer-songwriter, Christ-haunted alt-country, but not "Nashville", someone who you can tell is used to performing live in bars, hitting the road, and is astute and articulate; i find her somewhere in the tradition of Emmylou Harris, Over The Rhine, Buddy and Julie Miller, Gillian Welch, and maybe even as far as Sleater-Kinney (maybe a stretch). Check out her video on her website.
